Watercolors sourced by our pal Ashley Helvey. She saw them in the window of a tiny shop one day after the farmers market. The father makes the wooden boxes and the son makes the colors from pigment and honey. As she says, they're so natural you can lick them. We met Ashley when she visited our flat / gallery in Marseille to shoot it for the NYT. This was just before Covid and we were looking for someone to sublet our place. When I let her know this she quickly said, ME. No second thought, straight out of the gun, never slowing down, certain. This is precisely what I most appreciate about her, when she knows, SHE KNOWS and she is never wrong! So, if she tells me these are some of the best watercolors in the world I trust her judgement and opinion explicitly.
